Car Week #27 Or Is It #28?

As you read this I’m heading south to the Monterey/Pebble Beach Car Week for my 27th year. Or is it 28? Regardless of the mile marker it is sure to be another epic week of automotive abundance.

Monterey Car Week is about people, not cars.

That is a bold statement and I’m sure it may raise your eyebrow. But when you’ve enjoyed as many annual treks to Carmel/Pebble Beach/Monterey/Laguna Seca as I have, each year the number of friends you get to connect with grows. I’ve interviewed nearly 600 Inspiring Automotive Enthusiasts™ over the past two years here at Cars Yeah and one thing is for sure.

My list of car buddies is getting really long.

When you think about concours events, cars and coffees, vintage racing, automotive auctions, and more, sure the cars are an integral part but it’s the people who make it really fun. So here’s to reconnecting with old friends and meeting new ones. When you see me at the track, or on the lawn, or enjoying an auction, walk up and say hello because one thing is for sure.

We’ll be instant friends.

  1. Thanks Mark, for your good insight. The cars are the stars on the big stage, but as you rightly point out, the supporting cast, the writers, the production company, the sales and marketing professionals, and let’s not forget the enthusiastic audiences, without which there would be no show. The real FUN, that we all look forward to and enjoy, is the friendships we make with other car hobby fanatics!
