Kevin The Porsche Driver

I just got home from Laguna Seca where I enjoyed four days at the Rennsport Reunion V. Rennsport is a gathering of the world’s greatest Porsche race cars and the drivers who drove them. This reunion is nirvana for Porsche enthusiast like me. You had to be there and thousands were.

Including a young man named Kevin who gave me a ride in a new Porsche.

Kevin’s job was to shuttle people from the paddock to their cars. Drive people around. Pretty basic. But Kevin took his role as a representative of the Porsche marque very personally. He was engaging, personable, and passionate. He shared how he got to drive on the track at the new Porsche Experience Center in Atlanta. He spoke enthusiastically about the car he was driving, sharing performance specifications, options, and I could tell he was enjoying his role even though all he was doing was driving people back and forth to the parking lots.

Kevin took his job personally. He cared and added value to his passenger’s experience.

This is what happens when a company cares enough to hire, work with, and train individuals who take their role personally. It is a win-win for the employee and the customer. Are you doing this in your company?

  1. I too had the same experience with Kevin. When we climbed out of the Porsche Macan shuttle to the Corkscrew I said to my wife, “Wow, Porsche has a great employee there.”
