100% Is Really only 40%

It is really incredible what my Cars Yeah guests teach me, both the young and the old, about life and achieving goals. Earlier this month I had the honor of interviewing a young woman who shared with me an optimistic perspective when it comes to achieving her goals. You’ll find our talk here. Megan Meyer

Megan Meyer climbed into a Jr. Dragster at the age of 10 years old.

Megan is 27 years old today and by the time she was 16 and 17 she earned back-to-back Championships. In 2015 she obtained her NHRA Top Alcohol Dragster license and after graduating college she competed in 17 races in 2016 in back-to-back Championships. She kept winning and in 2015 she obtained her NHRA Top Alcohol Dragster license and after graduating college she competed in 17 races in 2016. It wasn’t easy and I asked her if she ever thought about quitting. Her response was…

“When you get to the point of quitting you are only at 40% of your ability.”

That is a very profound statement. Have you ever seen a professional athlete or endurance racer reach that point of exhaustion and then pull some inner strength and go on? Of course you have and it’s then you realize that Megan is right. Another winning quote from Megan is; “Drop Every Fear”.

The same goes for almost anything in life.

You always have more to give, no matter what the condition, situation, or obstacle. So next time you think about quitting anything, think about Megan’s words. You’re only at 40% and you have a lot more to give. Oh, and also remember this.

When you think about quitting, think about why you started.

An update on Megan. She’s retiring from racing after this year and pursuing a new career by starting her own business. You can learn more about what her next great adventure in life will be here: Megan Meyer

  1. Inspiring to hear from a young person who isn’t doing stupid things like many are doing now. Even at 64 years old I’ll take her advice anytime.
