Often after a long road trip, rally, race, or tour it is best to reflect upon the journey and discover what you could have done differently to make the experience more positive. Hindsight is twenty twenty.
Racers will tell you that their race is won in the preparation.
Observing the challenges we find ourselves in today a key takeaway, so far, for me is being better prepared. Whether it be with your financials or your stock of toilet paper, being prepared can alleviate the unknown and put your mind at ease. How you deal with a situation, that is how you have prepared your mind for the unknown, is more important in a multitude of ways.
The difference between an ordeal and an adventure is your attitude.
Years ago I purchased a Beck Spyder built by John Willhoit, a past Cars Yeah guest. The car has no top, no heater, nor a radio, and it was essentially a race car for the road. When my son, who was 8 at the time, and I departed from John’s shop in Long Beach, California for our 1,408 mile trip north to our home in Gig Harbor, Washington, I said to John. “We have spare parts, tools, a map, cell phone, sunscreen, hats, and a plan. Anything else you suggest we bring along John?”
“A great attitude is the only thing I can think of.”
I hope this message finds you and yours healthy and well. Get out in your garage and have a little fun today.
Right on the money, Mark! Thanks for sharing and all you do!
