Don’t Let The Vampires In

In the movie Lost Boys the dialogue goes like this:

Max:
Don’t ever invite a Vampire into your house, you silly boy. It renders you powerless.

[Sam turns to Edgar and whispers.]

Sam:
Did you know that?

Edgar:
Of course. Everyone knows that.

Don’t let the Vampires in, indeed.

I’ve been angry of late. Not a condition I enjoy nor do I find myself in very often, if ever. According to folklore, a Vampire can’t get into your house unless you invite him, or her inside. I’m thinking this has a direct correlation to the negativity we see on social media these days. If I allow the negativity in to my mind, I have essentially invited the Vampire in.

There’s a better way.

The car hobby is filled with positive, hard working people who are passionate about their vehicles. That is what makes it such a great group of people to associate with . So, I’ve made the decision to stop letting the Vampire in by not engaging, responding, nor opening the door. It doesn’t mean I don’t care, I deeply care. It just means I’ll be far more selective about how I spend my time. More positive car stuff. Less time with Vampires.

I hope you remain healthy and safe during these unprecedented times.

Don’t let the Vampires in. They will suck you dry.

  1. Here, here, Mark.

Too easy to let the turkeys (or vampires) get us down. Been guilty of this myself.

So, fight in the shade, Sparta-style. Many more positive people out here than negative – just the negative ones have a nagging way of catching our attention. Stay positive with all the love and care all these great friends of yours and fans of the hobby evoke!

    Regards

  2. Simple, yet profound Mark. We ultimately make the choice. Finding happiness in life is easy amongst ‘car people’….
    Keep up the good work.

  3. When we can’t control the situation, the only thing we can do is react to it, Our reaction will determine the outcome. Also, we can’t wait for others to fix it. The vampire story is very true. Now, what’s wrong with vampires?
