Renee Brinkerhoff is headed to Union Glacier, Antarctica on December 5 to complete 356 miles on the ice in the interior of Antarctica in her Polar Porsche. It is a 1956 Porsche 356 A coupe that’s been engineered with skis and tracks to tackle snow and ice. The car is equipped with solar panels and her navigator will be Jason de Carteret, a world record holder, polar explorer. But this isn’t Renee’s first road trip. It is the culmination of her Valkyrie Racing adventures, the apex of Project 356, a quest to race on all 7 continents in extreme rallies she began in 2013. When she competes this quest she will be the first person to race a car on all 7 continents! Her driving force is to raise awareness and funds to combat child trafficking globally. To date she and her team have raised nearly $500,000 and they are working toward their goal of $1mm by the time they return from the ice.
