Rob McGinnis is Founder and CEO of Prometheus, a Silicon Valley startup that removes CO2 from the air and turns it into zero net carbon gasoline, diesel, and jet fuels that are superior to fossil fuels all at a lower price. Rob is the author of over 20 patents, he invented the first direct air capture CO2-to-fuels process that can produce drop-in replacements for fossil fuels and has made breakthrough contributions in energy, nanotechnology, desalination and water purification, as both an inventor and entrepreneur.  Rob is a Veteran of the U.S. Navy Explosive Ordnance Disposal teams, where he was awarded a Navy Commendation Medal for valor in clearing naval mines off the coast of Iraq. He has a PhD in Engineering from Yale.

INSPIRATION

Previous companies Rob founded produced technology that he carried forward in to Prometheus.

CHALLENGE 

Prior to 2018, it was really unlikely for a startup to get funding for CO2 to fuels. That changed with the IPCC report in 2018, and when I saw that I launched Prometheus. The timing was great.
