Jim Kane is the Vice President of Engineering at Baraja, a deep technology company that has reinvented LiDAR for self-driving vehicles. Their groundbreaking Spectrum-Scan™ platform is setting new benchmarks for precision, range, and reliability. At Baraja Jim’s responsible for ensuring their systems meet the stringent requirements that is demanded by the automotive industry. Jim has more than 20 years of engineering experience at DaimlerChrysler, Magna, and several automotive startups. At Magna, he was the Global Vice President of Engineering for Magna Electronics and was responsible for driving the adoption of advanced driver assistance systems and self-driving technologies for the supplier’s automakers. Jim also helped grow two successful automotive startups that sold to Tier 1 suppliers.

INSPIRATION

One of Jim’s past bosses at a startup called Moveamento who was very helpful to Jim’s career growth.

CHALLENGE 

Winning an electric vehicle project with a large OEM to buy a high voltage charger, that was needed rather quickly, creating a huge challenge to deliver.
