Al Pearce became a daily newspaper sportswriter in 1968 and covered his first NASCAR race in July of 1969. He’s covered racing in some form or fashion in daily papers for 35 years and for Autoweek, concurrently, for about 50 years, and he has authored 15 NASCAR related books. Today we’ll be focusing on his newest titled 50 First Victories: NASCAR Drivers’ Breakthrough Wins, a book he co-authored with Mike Hembree, published by Octane Press. Al’s been to 50 states and a dozen-plus countries on assignment including Le Mans, NASCAR in Mexico, Canada, Australia, and Japan. Al’s been awarded with 6 media-focused Halls of Fame for journalism, 8 journalism awards for writing excellence, and more.
