Gonen Barkan is the Chief Radar Officer at Arbe, a global leader in Perception Radar Solutions.  There he oversees the technological strategy and leads product specifications and R&D execution to drive Arbe’s innovative solution and the radar industry toward market success. Prior to joining Arbe, Gonen served as the General Motors Radar Lead, where he directed a global team responsible for radar development and technology across GM. He was responsible for all aspects of radar technology development, radar product development and radar integration into GM vehicles – focusing on future retail-autonomy programs. This was done in close collaboration with the entire radar ecosystem – Tier 1s, Tier 2s, and start-ups, engaging with more than 80% of the automotive radar landscape.

INSPIRATION

While working at GM, he developed the first GM laser. He worked with Andrew Farah, GM Chief Technology Architect and his mentor Scott Miller, GM VP. 

CHALLENGES

Working for a startup that went through Chapter 11, lost some money, resulting in having to go back to the basics and start over.
