Doug Evans has been in the specialty automotive aftermarket business for over 40 years. He is currently a Senior Advisor specializing in Mergers and Acquisitions for Radial Equity Partners, where they focus on investments in vehicle aftermarket companies. After a brief stint in the media department of Young and Rubicam, a desire to be closer to all things automotive moved Doug to Petersen Publishing Company in 1983, where he remained for much of the following three decades running multiple departments. Doug also held positions as Director of Business Development for Bonnier Corporation, Executive Vice President / Chief Operating Officer for Luken Communications, Interim President and CEO of Crower Cams, as well as Equipment and Interim President and CEO of Legendary Group and Coker Tire. He has volunteered for SEMA for over 20 years in various positions and has been recognized with several industry awards, including the SEMA Person of the Year Award, ARMO Hall of Fame, and the SBN Athena Award. He is also a member of the prestigious SEMA Hall of Fame and a recipient of the Lee Iacocca Lifetime Achievement Award.

INSPIRATION

Robert E. Peterson was a great mentor as was Doug’s father, who provided him with many opportunities to grow his passions for automobiles.

CHALLENGES

Leaving the automotive world for a short time was a challenge. When Robert Peterson sold his company, Doug went into the magazine business. That experience, while it wasn’t his passion, gave him confidence.SPECIAL VEHICLE

A Daytona that Dave Smith with Factory 5 Racing tried to convince Doug he should buy, but Doug’s a big guy so that ride didn’t come to fruition. A car that did get built was a 1969 Mustang that Doug converted from a coupe to a fastback (pictured above).
