Dave Amantea is the Chief Design Officer at Automobili Pininfarina where for almost 90 years, this iconic design house has shaped the automotive world, giving countless luxury and sport vehicles a distinctive shape. They have been the pioneers of a world of purity and innovation. Dave’s career includes being a professor at the IAAD University of Design, A Senior Exterior Designer and Team Leader at Jaguar Land Rover, and Senior Exterior Lead Designer at NIO. In 2018, he returned to Italy to join Automobili Pininfarina. Their Battista Hypercar presented him with a completely new and exciting design challenge. Dave will be with his colleagues on the lawn at this year’s Quail, debuting the new Battista.

INSPIRATION
Giorgetto Giugiaro is arguably the world’s most influential modern automotive designer and he was Dave’s greatest mentor.
CHALLENGE
Designing and building the first Pininfarina Battista, and getting it done during the Covid pandemic, as well as the Ukraine war, have been huge challenges.
SPECIAL VEHICLE
A Mini Cooper R52, Dave’s first car that he purchased with his own money, and the Ferrari 250 SWB, a car that inspired Dave when he was younger.
