Alec Harrell is the owner of Harrell Engines Los Angeles. At 27 years old he is the fourth-generation member to carry on the family business. Alec’s great Grand Uncles, Jim and Nick Harrell, started Harrell Engine LA in 1932 in the heart of Los Angeles. They went on to win many accolades in land speed and drag racing in the SOCAL hot rod scene. By 1946 the brothers developed their own in-house brand of high-performance cylinder heads and intake manifolds for Flathead Ford V8s. Today, Alec carries on the tradition building nostalgia style Hot Rods among other classic car restoration services, in addition to bringing back the old family speed parts. He started his career at age 10 working for a classic car museum near his hometown of Hermosa Beach, California. After 15 years in ‘training’ Alec left his position as Collections Manager to embark on a dream of bringing the family name back to Hot Rodding.
