Karen McClaflin is the Executive Director of the California Automobile Museum in Sacramento, California. A California native, she was the Executive Director of the ALS Association and the California Automobile  Museum from 2006 – 2015  before focusing on Development at Broadway Sacramento and, finally, returning for a second term. She is the Finance Chair, Home Group Leader, and previous Worship Leader and Conference Speaker. In a constant pursuit of artistic outlets, Karen dabbles in singing, drama, dance, and creative writing. Karen is a breat cancer survivor, Raider fan, mother, and grandmother. Along with her passion for cars, she is a collector of shoes, which now total more than 100 pairs.

I had the pleasure of visiting the California Automobile  Museum in 2018 when I filmed an episode of Cars Yeah TV that you can enjoy on the Cars Yeah YouTube channel.  I was given a tour by their then Curator Carly Starr. Enjoy the tour here:  Cars Yeah TV

INSPIRATION

The current museum’s board president, Joe Hensler, is a great teammate, and he’s been a mentor to Karen.

CHALLENGES

Money is always a challenge for museums and having too many events create a lot of hardship. Many times it’s better to simply ask people for donations to help the museum.
