Hello Inspiring Automotive Enthusiasts and welcome to Cars Yeah. As the year ends, I would like to take the time to look back at and celebrate the life of those past Cars Yeah guests we lost in 2024.
It was Abraham Lincoln who said “In the end, it’s not the years in your life that count. It’s the life in your years.”
These inspiring people all lived their lives surrounding themselves with their passions for people and automobiles. All were guests on Cars Yeah and I am honored to say had become my friends. Their impact on the car world and the people they encountered created lives very well lived. Something we should all aspire to do each day.
RICH MACDONALD – “Treat everyone with respect and dignity.”
I first met Rich MacDonald at Superformance / Hillbank / Shelby Legendary Cars in Irvine, Orange County California when I was filming the first episode of my Cars Yeah TV show. At Superformance the Owner Lance Stander and his team, including Rich, build Ford Cobras, GT40s, Daytonas, Caterham, and the Corvette Grand Sport. Rich MacDonald was involved in sales and promotions at. You can walk in and purchase a new car or have them build one to your exacting specifications. Rich’s father was the famous Dave MacDonald who raced Cobras to many victories and was also an Indycar racer. He passed in a horrific accident in the 1964 Indianapolis 500, along with fellow driver Eddie Sachs. Dave was one of those people with a permanent and infectious smile on his face, ever enthusiastic about the world of cars and racing. He got to be involved in the famous Ford vs Ferrari movie about Carroll Shelby staring Matt Damon, Christian Bale, and others. Rich passed after a valiant and always positive battle with cancer.
MIKE MULLAN – “Be creative and think outside the box and then put your ideas in motion.”
Mike Mullan was the owner of Car Treasures, a website where you could find vintage automobilia. His life was shared on his website where automotive enthusiasts and collectors can sell, buy, or browse treasured pieces of automobilia including: toys, models, posters, artwork, signs, literature, documents, trophies, advertising, promotional items and other historic artifacts from the automotive past. You’ll come across hard to find unique items you never knew existed and have a chance to clean out your garage, raise some money, and then fill it back up again with more fun things. As if that didn’t keep Mike busy, his day job is that as a realtor for land and residential properties in the Phoenix Metro area.
ROB PITTS – “Do what you love and the rest will come.”
Rob Pitts, known by his friends and fans at “Rabbit” was a businessman, television personalitiy, and classic car enthusiast. He was best known for co-starring in the Netflix series Tex-Mex Motors, and his storytelling on the YouTube channel. was the owner of Pitts Truck Service in Greenville, South Carolina. That 40+ year-old company provided truck and trailer repair from light service to full overhauls. Rob started Hot Rods & Happy Hour, a monthly car event like the well-known cars and coffee events that take place across the country. His event grew and expanded to other states. Along with getting like-minded enthusiasts together to enjoy their cars, trucks, and motorcycles, Hot Rods & Happy Hour raises money to help children affected by Autism. All the proceeds from their shirt sales and more go toward helping children who suffer from this disease. He passed at the young age of 45 from stomach cancer.
CHAD McQUEEN – “Don’t hit anything”
Chad McQueen was the son of legendary actor Steve McQueen. He was my guest twice on Cars Yeah and I filmed an episode with him at his father’s annual Steve McQueen Car Show. As an adult, Chad followed his father’s path into acting and racing. His most notable role was Dutch, a Cobra Kai villain in The Karate Kid films. While his acting career never ascended to the heights of his father’s, Chad proved to be a talented racing driver and competed at top-tier events such as the Le Mans 24 Hours and Sebring 12 Hours. Unfortunately, Chad’s racing career was cut short due to a big crash during a practice session for the Daytona 24 Hours in 2006. The crash left him with a fractured left leg and spine, as well as multiple broken ribs, injuries that plagued him for the rest of his life. Unable to race due to injuries, Chad founded McQueen Racing in 2010, collaborating with manufacturers to build limited-edition cars, trucks and motorcycles. Chad is survived by his wife Jeanie, children Steven, Chase, and Madison, and his 92-year-old mother Neile Adams. Chad passed at the young age of 63 from organ failure, having never fully recovered from an injury he suffered after a fall in 2020.
