How fast are you really going? Is the number indicated on your speedometer a true indication of how fast you’re getting to where you want to be? Or could our life’s speedometer need calibrating?
We may be measuring our progress with the wrong focus.
Campbell’s law states the more any quantitative social indicator is used for social decision-making, the more it is subject to corruption. As we speed through life, there are pressures to compare our perception of positive progress that often result in an incorrect measurement.
Money vs. Happiness
Sales vs. Impact
Quantity vs. Quality
Facebook Likes vs. True Friends
Work vs. Family
Past vs. Future
Speed vs. Progress
Life is a marathon, not a sprint.
The guest list on Cars Yeah is diverse yet a common lesson learned is often shared by these inspiring enthusiasts. We tend to focus on how fast we are going, measuring our progress for success based on indicators that can easily be manipulated in our minds instead of reality.
Perhaps our focus shouldn’t be on faster but better.
How do you measure your life’s success?
