After a weekend of some wonderful racing events the old saying “That’s racing” really hits the mark. A miscalculation at Team Mercedes most likely cost Lewis Hamilton a coveted Monaco Gran Prix victory. Juan Pablo Montoya comes from 15th, and was 30th at one point, to taste victory at the biggest race any driver can win, the Indy 500.
That’s racing.
Business can be like that. You can plan, prepare, practice, test, hire the best cast and crew, be the best at your craft, and things happen to derail your efforts and put you in to the wall. However, the most important point is that you made an effort. You tried. You took the risk. You participated. And if you find yourself on the losing end of an experience the most important question is…
What did I learn?
One of my favorite racing quotes came from the late great racer Ayrton Senna. “The past is just data. I only see the future.” His comment defines the importance of perspective and focuses on moving forward.
What great lessons have victories and defeats taught you?
Thank you to those veterans who gave the ultimate sacrifice so we could enjoy this past Memorial Day weekend. You are not forgotten.
Yes Mark-Thank you to our veterans!
