Once we set the course for what we want to do in our career, and our life, the journey begins with finding the right path to achieve those goals. Whether on the road or the track, it is important to stay on course and find the best way to get there more quickly.
Driving through the apex will get you there quicker.
There are a lot of things that can pull us off line. Those distracting, easy-to-do, tasks can derail our long-term efforts. It’s best to separate the important long-term work from those short-term distractors. On the track you learn to break a corner down in to parts. Same can be said for our career journey.
Approach. Braking point. Turn in. Apex. Run wide. Exit.
Our challenge is to separate the straights from the corners. The short-term distractions from the long-term, bigger picture goals and tasks; the important from the easy-to-do. The curves can be fun but they can become short-term,time-eating distractors. It is best when we define the correct apex and execute them with perfection. Even if this takes a lot of extra effort.
How do you define your apex?
