Who is your favorite automotive designer? Two of mine are Battista “Pinin” Farina and his son Sergio Pininfarina from the iconic design firm Pininfarina.
In 1928 Batista and his 18 employees were just another Italian Carozzeria.
Very soon though, instead of doing what other design firms and auto body builders were doing, he chose not to give his clients what they wanted. Instead, Battista gave them designs he wanted his name on. Along with a new way of building automobile bodies known as unibody construction.
Paninifarina designs have always been far from the norm of the day.
Being the first, and being different, is never easy. But if you ignore this concept when designing your business and your life, your efforts to be a success will never be a reflection of your vision.
