INSPIRATIONAL QUOTE

“I’m gonna save all my money and buy a GTO,” from a song by Ronnie and The Daytonas.

CAREER & LIFE CHALLENGES

One of my biggest career endeavors was to begin a collector car auction business when I was 22 years old and working as an aircraft mechanic. It was a great experience to see an idea that I had in my garage come to life. I knew nothing about starting a business, so the learning curve was great. I learned more from the two auctions we did than a college degree could have ever taught me. It was quite an experience with the weather fighting us at both auctions. It even hailed at the second auction. For anyone trying to start a similar business, focus on getting good cars there rather than having more cars there. Also, use social media as an advertising and marketing tool.

FIRST SPECIAL VEHICLE

It was a 1995 Buick Roadmaster. It still had the LT1, and was a powerful car. I put 1960 style rally wheels, white letter tires and Flowmasters on it. I even cut the hood scoops out of a 1970-1972 Buick GS and welded them on my hood.

BEST AUTOMOTIVE ADVICE

When it comes to buying and selling, a friend told me, “If you don’t lose every now and then, you’re not trying hard enough.”

RECOMMENDED RESOURCE

Craigslist, for dealing and Facebook Marketplace are two of my favorite resources.
