I get to meet some very special people at Cars Yeah. One of my guests this week was Dwight T. Knowlton. He’s an entrepreneur, designer, illustrator, writer, and all around creative guy. He wrote a book I wish was around when my children were little. The Little Read Racing Car. After enjoying his book, I have to say…
Getting back to a beginner’s mind was a treat.
The Little Red Racing Car is a barn find story that every automotive enthusiast will find fun whether you’re a child or an adult. A special car book I remember receiving from my parents was Chitty Chitty Bang Bang by Ian Flemming. It fueled my passion for cars and I must have read that book over and over because the spine is pretty well blown to pieces. That book still has a special place in my library.
The adventures of Chitty took me to far away places.
We seem to lose some of our imagination after grammar school. That’s why playing with old cars can bring back our beginner’s mind. The simplicity. The smells. The wonder. The joy. They all come back to fill the mind with adventure and delight. So some time today, take a moment, and try getting back the way you thought in the second grade.
Close your eyes and imagine a little red racing car.
You will find Dwight’s interview here at Cars Yeah.
