Darryl Wischnewsky is the Owner and President of the Bayway Auto Group in Houston, Texas. He’s been in the automobile business since 1975 and opened his first dealership in 1995. Since then Darryl has gone on to build a formidable group of dealerships in Texas including; Bayway Lincoln-Mercury, Bayshore Chrysler, Dodge, Ram, and Jeep, Bayway Volvo, The Volkswagon of he Woodlands and BayWay Chevrolet. He is also a huge fan of classic muscle cars and has a Hemi Cuda, Hemi Charger, Roadrunners, a Ford Boss 9, and a Shelby Mustang to name a few. CAREER & LIFE CHALLENGES
After working in the construction business for a while, I knew construction was not where I wanted to be the rest of my life. I had an opportunity to work at Pinnacle Oil Company, and realized that wasn’t exactly what I wanted to do. When I was fortunate enough to begin working in the car business, it was a pivotal point in my life. After making the move to the car business, I knew that was the place I was supposed to be. I went through the oil crisis in 1973, when fuel was low, and folks were buying smaller cars. I went through the rubber strikes, and we couldn’t get cars from the factory because they couldn’t get rubber for them. When times were hard, I learned to stick it out, and not to run for the hills the first time there is a bad day.
