INSPIRATIONAL QUOTE

Success begins with a strategy, not with what should I do.

Always remember that your health is your greatest asset. Don’t risk it!

CAREER & LIFE CHALLENGES

My greatest challenge in my career was when I left a corporate career and went into business for myself. I felt like I had a secure job, and my paycheck was good, but I just didn’t like what I was doing. It was a tough decision to go out on my own, but the restoration industry was in good shape, and I thought it was a great time to jump. I was a month behind on work during the first week! There was so much work out there, and there still is. I’ve never caught up!

FIRST SPECIAL VEHICLE

My first special car was a MG TF. I was about 10 years old, and it was a great car to learn on. I kept that car for about 35 years, and I know who owns that car today.

BEST AUTOMOTIVE ADVICE

The best automotive advice I received is to repair it as if it’s your own.

PARTING WORDS OF ADVICE

Take the time to sit and think quietly about your next step. Life is like a game of chess, and it all comes down to very small, maybe insignificant details, and some luck. Make your own luck. To do that, you’re going to have to think and plan it. If you do that, you’re almost guaranteed to be successful.

  1. Mark, thank you for including the nice plug from Mark Lambert for our book, “Race Car Vehicle Dynamics”. It’s always good to hear from a satisfied customer.
Can you change your link? RCVD costs *much* more from Amazon–as of Sept 2018 they are asking USD $80 more than SAE, our publisher (almost double!) Follow the “Purchasing Information” link on our page http://www.millikenresearch.com/rcvd.html to the latest SAE Bookstore page (SAE often changes the URL, we keep the link current).
If you are in contact with Mark Lambert, he might also enjoy our second book, “Chassis Design” which covers an earlier period, when pioneer Maurice Olley was laying the ground work for vehicle dynamics.
For a brief overview of Bill/Dad’s career, see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/William_F._Milliken_Jr. but for the full story you need to read “Equations of Motion”, his autobiography from Bentley Publishers, with forward by Dan Gurney.
    Yours,,
