Ron Harris is the Co-Chairman, along with Chad McQueen, of the Friends of Steve McQueen Car and Motorcycle Show, a position he has held since the show’s inception in 2007. The show benefits The Boys Republic in Chino Hills, California. He was a vintage racer running with VARA, HSR West, and HMSA racing his 1965 Porsche 356 for 12 years. Ron started his own company, Better Beverages, a fountain beverage supply company to the foodservice industry, a company he owned an ran from 1969 till 2017. He is a past President of the International Beverage Dispensing Equipment Association, the Southern California Chapter of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and the 356 Porsche Club of Southern California.

CAREER & LIFE CHALLENGES
I began a journeyman grocery clerk back in 1960, and I made a little over $3.00 an hour. I saved my money to travel to Europe to visit family. I bought a round-trip ticket on the Queen Elizabeth. During the trip, I traveled all over Europe, and while in Berlin, I saw the difference between a communist country and a democracy. It was startling to see the memorials along the ground in West Berlin for people who lost their lives trying to escape East Berlin to be free. This was a turning point in my life and made me appreciate our country more than ever.
FIRST SPECIAL VEHICLE
My first special vehicle was a 1947 Ford coupe. It was nicknamed “The Purple People Eater” because it was purple.
BEST AUTOMOTIVE ADVICE
The best automotive advice I received was to check the oil, water, and air in the tires before you get on the road.
