INSPIRATIONAL QUOTE

CAREER & LIFE CHALLENGES

My formal background is Hotel/Motel management. My family moved from northern California to Florida in the early 70’s. At 18, while attending college, I started working in construction and Real Estate. A few years later, since I was also still a car guy, I started buying vintage Mustangs and stockpiling them to part out or fix in a small run-down building with some open land. Before I knew it, I owned three salvage yards which I operated for a number of years. Through my years in the automotive industry and the skills and knowledge I acquired over that time period, I found an underserved niche for crashed car valuations, specialty car appraisals and brokerage. Also, throughout my life, having traveled extensively here in the US and in Europe, and making lots of contacts along the way, I began a radio show about cars and started interviewing guests in 2010. The show has since become successful and has developed a loyal following.

FIRST SPECIAL VEHICLE

My favorite car was my first car, which was a dilapidated 1965 Austin Healey MKIII 3000 Phase I. After the first 6 days of owning the car, the exhaust fumes coming through the holes in the floorboard were killing me. So, I had a cheap exhaust system put on it. The next day on the way to school, I was cut off and I ended up having an accident on a wet road with bald tires on a short bridge. While searching for parts, unbeknown to me, the impound yard was racking up a huge storage bill. Since I couldn’t afford the fees, they absconded with my beloved Healey. I am still searching for that car to this day.
