Josh Maule is the co-founder of Heel Toe Socks located in Phoenix, Arizona. Josh and his business partner Brain Richardson are automotive enthusiasts who came up with the idea to design bold patterns inspired by legendary Ford, Datsun, and Porsche racing cars onto lightweight, breathable socks that are made in the USA. Josh is particularly fond of vintage cars and his past includes mountain bike racing. Heel Toe Socks is a sidepreneur venture as Josh’s day job is running Swimming Pool Science, a pool service and repair company. As a Father’s Day Special, Josh has offered two cool gifts to a couple lucky Cars Yeah Subscribers. The first winner will receive 1 pair of TF70 socks, a Heel Toe t-shirt, and a Heel Toe Socks poster. The second winner will receive one pair of TF70 socks that are autographed by Gulf Racing Team Director John Horseman, plus a t-shirt and poster.

INSPIRATIONAL QUOTE
You have to keep moving forward!
CAREER & LIFE CHALLENGES
I own a swimming pool service and repair business in Phoenix, AZ. I have a great partner right now. In a market like Phoenix, the business keeps coming at you. There have been many pitfalls, and I have been fired by clients many times. Sometimes I didn’t give the level of service they expected, and other times, I spread myself too thin. I’ve learned that a mission statement is very important in business. It should be your lighthouse, your compass and your guidepost. If you stick to your mission statement, everything will fall into place.
FIRST SPECIAL VEHICLE
I learned to drive stick on my dad’s 1958 356 coupe with him sitting beside me. I had a 1969 Porsche 912 when I went to ASU. It was a really fun car that I restored with my dad and sold it. Shortly after that, I had a 1979 Porsche 930. That car was a rocket ship! It was an incredible machine. The most memorable car, though, is the silver 1972 911S that I currently own.
BEST AUTOMOTIVE ADVICE
Think about restoration vs. restoration. Anytime you’re going to do work on your car, when do you dive into something, and when do you leave it alone?
RECOMMENDED RESOURCE
The Technik Museum Sinsheim in Germany is a physical resource everyone should put on your bucket list.
RECOMMENDED BOOK
Kate Reilly Mystery Series, by Tammy Kaehler, are fictional stories based on the racing scene. Tammy has really done her technical research, and her accounts are very accurate. Tammy is a past guest here on Cars Yeah.
