David Tracy and Jason Torchinsky, along with Galpin Motors’, and past Cars Yeah guest, Beau Boeckmann, are the founders of a new online destination for car enthusiasts that they call The Autopian. Both David and Tracy were Jalopnik’s most-read writers bringing a strong focus on technical expertise combined with fun. David was born in Germany and became obsessed with Jeeps and off-roading after his family moved to Kansas. He earned a degree in mechanical engineering and worked for Chrysler before pursuing more creative automotive endeavors. Jason is an artist and comedian who has always loved unique vehicles, automotive history, and the car culture. While at Jalopnik Jason wrote over 6,700 articles! The Autopian exists to serve the car enthusiast community by creating content that informs and entertains, while celebrating the unifying quality of automobiles.

INSPIRATION

David, coming from a big family of 5 brothers, was been inspired by them all. They are his ‘board of advice’ in life.  For Jason, his friend Tom Jennings, an artist and mechanical engineer, has been a great influence.

 CHALLENGE 

David – After getting to Chrysler he thought it would be the right path but it turns out it was a big challenge. Jason – Starting a new business in webcasting that didn’t go as well as planned.
