Alan Dowds is a Freelance motorcycle photojournalist. He started riding and reading bike magazines, in Scotland, in the late 1980s. In 1995 he started running his own fanzine/A5 format mag in Glasgow (Scotland), and then got his start in Motorcycle News in England in 1997. Alan worked there as a news reporter for two years, then moved to RiDE magazine as road tester/road test editor. After moving to London in 2001 he worked at SuperBike magazine as deputy editor, and stayed there for the next decade. In 2011 Alan went freelance. As a jack-of-all-trades freelancer, he now works as a writer, photographer, and video producer. His new book titled BMW Motorcycles 100 Years is published by Motorbooks.
