Ed Winkler is the Co-Founder of the Arizona Concours taking place on Sunday, January 22. This event starts off the New Year concours circuit and Arizona Auctions week. Automobiles have been an integral part of Ed’s life since he was a young child, when an MG/TC passed his home in Wilmington, Delaware. He loves the classical pre-war English automotive design and has been a dedicated hobbyist ever since. Ed began attending car shows in the late 1950s and at the age of 15 was building his own hot rod. Ed and his wife Karen have built a collection of seven antique and classic automobiles which they maintain at their home in Paradise Valley, AZ. His Art History degree provides him with a unique vision of the automobile as a reflection of our culture and a true kinetic art form, demanding to be driven and enjoyed.

INSPIRATION

An MG TC he saw as a child kicked off Ed’s passion for cars. His favorite is a Ferrari  250 GT.

CHALLENGES

You gotta make a hundred phone calls to get one good one. When he had to leave the Biltmore Resort due to new ownership, trying to find a new venue for the Arizona Concours was a big challenge.

  1. May I just say what a comfort to discover somebody that really understands what they are talking about over the internet. You actually understand how to bring a problem to light and make it important. More and more people must look at this and understand this side of the story. I was surprised that you’re not more popular since you certainly possess the gift.
