Matt Dibenedetto, or Matt D, as many fans call him, is a long-time veteran of NASCAR, coming onto the scene in 2009. Matt has nearly 250 starts in NASCAR’s top series and is currently racing in the NASCAR Xfinity Series for Viking Motorsports, driving the #99 Chevrolet Camaro. A native of Grass Valley, CA, Matt began the journey to a professional racing career at the age of 7 by competing in outlaw kart racing. Matt is a man of great faith, a huge car enthusiast, animal lover of their adopted dog “Brian”, and married to his high school sweetheart, his better half, Taylor or Tay, as most everyone calls her.

INSPIRATION

Matt’s parents and his father were great supporters and influence’d his life. Michael McDowell was a key mentor in Matt’s faith journey. Former Crew Chief Gene Nead was instrumental in helping Matt on the track as well as in his life.

CHALLENGE

His professional racing career was hitting the high point driving in the NASCAR Cup Series for the legendary Wood Brothers Racing when COVID shut everything down. Matt felt that he lost his identity as he had immersed himself into the identity of the “race car driver” and overcame the mental health aspect of realizing what was truly important in his life. He was stripped of his “pride.”

SPECIAL AUTOMOBILE

Matt’s first ever 2012 C6 Corvette Gran Sport, a vehicle he still owns today.
