The Power To Choose

Only just a year ago the wheels fell off the car and it slammed into a wall. Everyone’s lives were flipped upside down by the pandemic. For me the year that has passed has felt like ten. Our trim tabs, that small rudder on a boat or a plane, or the Gurney Flap on a Daytona, that set our lives directions and plant us firmly on our path, fell off and readjusted the entire direction of our lives. As Stephen R. Covey puts it, “become a trim-tab”. People who are trim-tabs act in such a way that their entire being is positively affected by their actions. Making positive choices is an action. Today people are talking about “when things go back to normal…”

But the truth is things never go back to how they were.

Having interviewed over 1,750 Inspiring Automotive Enthusiasts™ I’ve discovered that most of us have learned new ways to connect, to do business, to collaborate, to learn, to serve, and to lead fulfilling lives. I am amazed how all my guests chose to take action, became resilient, got creative, and faced their fears head on. We learned, despite things seemingly out of our control, that we can choose. Choices determine our direction and we have the freedom to choose how we respond to whatever happens. Fear limits beliefs and that limits our choices, destroying our plans. Your future is self-determined through your choices. Understanding this pushed so many through a challenging year.

Your dreams and actionable plans are much bigger than any fear.

I know the past year has been one of growth and challenge for me. Given the opportunity to share with you the stories of others, and how they powered on, is a gift I cherished sharing.

I want to thank you for listening, reading, and sharing these stories.

Bravo for soldering through when the world was frozen in fear. 2021 is still young but it’s moving fast. Choose to set your goals now. Choose to give back to others. Be sure to remember no matter what happens, you always have the freedom to choose your response.

I’ll see you down the road.
