It will turn any Monday in to a Friday.
Mike was talking about driving a special car. Driving a car that really rings your bell. A car that when you slide in to the driver’s seat, and place your hands on the wheel, you get excited. Really excited. Over the top excited. It is that car, that when you turn the ignition key and the engine comes alive, that awakens your soul. And it takes you to a different place. Well, maybe still the office, but your mind goes to a different place.
That’s the beauty of driving something really special.
Another guest on Cars Yeah, photographer Gunther Raupp, shared a similar story about his daily driver. He drives a Ford Focus RS. His other car is a 1984 Ferrari Dino Spider to add some perspective. He told me his Focus is “Terribly metallic green that is a pain for the eyes but beautiful in the sun. It has 300 horsepower, tremendous torque, and a huge spoiler. People tell me I am crazy to be driving such a car at my age. But I love the way it makes me feel.”

I love the sound of air-cooled 911’s. I like the way they sound before they’re really warm and then when you get them into the upper rpm’s of the rev range. Lastly, I like the abrupt “thrump” when you turn off the key and listen to the hot engine ticking.
