March is Women’s Month on Cars Yeah
Did you know the first journey taken in an automobile was by a woman? Bertha Benz was an automotive pioneer and inventor. She was the business partner and wife of automobile inventor Karl Benz and on August 5, 1888, she was the first person to drive an automobile over a long distance, field testing their patented Motorwagen. She invented brake linings and solved several practical issues including re-fueling along the journey, a difficult task given there were no gas stations! Bertha brought the Benz Patented-Motorwagen worldwide attention and got the company its first sales.
